Western University Autism Centre of Excellence 2013 Research Awards

Deadline for Applications:  March 30, 2013

The Western University Autism Centre of Excellence invites applications for Research Awards to conduct research into the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of autism and related pervasive developmental disorders. The purpose of these awards is: a) to draw new investigators into the field of autism research by funding initial studies by beginning researchers; b) to provide an opportunity for established investigators whose expertise and experience in other (nonautism) areas of research to conduct preliminary research of relevance to autism; and c) to allow researchers to collect the preliminary data necessary to prepare and submit a competitive research grant application to larger funding organizations. Awards of up to $5,000 will be provided to successful applicants.

Eligibility requirements:

The award is open to any student (undergraduate or graduate) or faculty member of the Western University community. Applications are also invited from non-Western University persons working with agencies in the London region providing services to people with autism and their families. In this latter case, a member of the Western University faculty must be listed as a co-investigator. Applications from all departments of the University will be accepted, without preference to any department, school, or faculty within the Western University. However, preference will be given to funding proposals from undergraduate and graduate students, fellows, and junior faculty. The awards are not limited in scope – rather they are for any and all research projects which are of relevance to the understanding of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of autism and related pervasive developmental disorders.
